Your Night-time Routine for Glowing Skin

Image

Beauty sleep is a real thing. While you get your zzz’s, your body promotes blood flow to the skin, giving you a healthy glow when you wake up. When you deprive yourself of sleep, blood flow decreases around your face, leaving your skin ashy or lifeless. Try some of these tips to help you snooze during your busy week so you can wake up rested and radiant.   Stay off your Phone and Laptop Your phone and laptop gives off blue light, which can inhibit production of melatonin (a hormone your brain produces to promote sleep). Stay off your electronic devices at least an hour before going to bed. If you absolutely must answer those emails or watch that episode of Grey’s Anatomy, use a blue light filter app like Iris or Sunset Screen. This ...

The Simple Skin -Care Routine that Helped Eliminate the Appearance of My Cystic Acne

While I’d like to think I’ve always lived a balance lifestyle, I’ve had my fair share of struggles with cystic acne. I had never had particularly problematic skin all throughout my teenage years, but the minute I entered my early 20s, I found myself dealing with sudden breakouts, cysts, and redness. In high-school, I never wore makeup and always got compliments on how I was glowing. But what seemed like from one day to the next, my face was engulfed in inflamed bumps that would put a toad to shame. In fact, I felt so incredibly ugly without makeup and had an incessant need to cover up with foundation and concealer to mask the problem- continuously clogging my pores without a real solution. I became un-motivated that my skin had changed for the worse, accepting that maturing skin meant living at the mercy of my hormones. For three years, I … Continue reading

I am all about a multi-tasking product. Between work, working out, and having a social life, I am constantly on-the-go and space in my bag is a hot commodity.  While I like to cut down on the number of products I’m using daily, I’m also not about to sacrifice any of the results I want to see. The D Word You Need to Know and Use

Let the sun shine in as spring weather spreads across the country. After a dreary winter, it’s likely you are heading outdoors as often as you can to soak up some Vitamin D. You can (and should) wear sunscreen and still get D. Vitamin D is made in the skin and functions like a hormone. As we age, skin loses its ability to produce sufficient levels of vitamin D and appears dull, dry, discolored and less firm. The skin needs D to make D, thus, a real dilemma. To give everyone – babies to seniors – the benefits of a topical dose of D, we created the VitaD Fortified™ Topical Elixir. Our unique topical dose of Vitamin D is combined with a gentle retinol and powerful peptide complex. The result is a lightweight formula that produces luminous, healthy-looking skin and combats photo-aging. As with all Skin Authority products, the clean formula … Continue reading

Superfoods That Will Have A Transformative Effect On Your Skin

istock_72977335_lowres-womaninfield

Reprinted from MindBodyGreen.com blog post, December 12, 2016 With more than two decades in beauty, I’m a long-time supporter of topical application of natural ingredients. A key reason for applying topically, is less than one percent of what we ingest ever makes its way to the skin. You can eat all of the superfoods you want (I suggest you do) to fight free radicals and boost your immune system. However, the only way to attack surface-level conditions like acne and psoriasis is by applying the ingredient directly to the skin, scalp and hair. So, short of rubbing an avocado on your face, how are superfoods best added to a regimen? Working with infusions is a bit like being a chemist. On a daily basis, you can dial up or dial down the ingredients you need. Due to travel, climate changes, hormones, stress, your skin has different needs each day. Infusions offer the ability … Continue reading
